We are half way through our second week of school and we are starting in on our actual academic work. We have been learning letter writing skills and I've been showing them the 5 parts of a letter (date, greeting, body, closing, and signature). The kids have practiced writing their own letters and have composed their own letters to my friend and requesting the use of his hamster cage. HAMSTER??? YES!! We are talking about getting a class pet. This hasn't been completely decided upon yet.
For reading, we have been learning about how to select books at an appropriate reading level. I have explained the 25 book and book summary requirement for the year and I've also explained HOW to write a summary. They should be working on this already.
Today, we also started learning about the Bill of Rights! What are the BILL OF RIGHTS?? They will soon be learning all about it!
